UConn Coach Wins Again

Geno Auriemma moves to the top of the list, securing more titles than any other college basketball coach.

When the UConn Huskies defeated Syracuse 82-51, Coach Geno Auriemma passed former UCLA coach John Wooden, becoming the only college coach to win 11 national titles (this being his 4th in women’s basketball).

Born in Montella, Italy, Geno Auriemma moved to Norristown, Pennsylvania when he was  seven years old. He became a naturalized US citizen in 1994. Married today with three children, he maintained a home in Avalon, New Jersey for many years so that he could remain close to his parents who lived in Philadelphia.

Many consider Auriemma to be the best coach in all of college basketball. His exceptional record would certainly attest to that fact.
