Italy announced eleven venues that would host football matches as part of the Rome’s bid for the 2024 Olympics.
According to the Associated Press, San Siro in Milan and Stadio Olympico in Rome are among the venues selected.
Other sites can be found in the cities of Turin, Verona, Udine, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Naples, Bari and Palermo for both men’s and women’s tournaments.
“11 cities, 11 stadiums – it is from here that Rome’s bid becomes the candidacy of the country,” said Giovanni Malago, Italian Olympic Committee chief.
This announcement comes on the heels of Italy’s latest proposition to hold sailing events in Cagliari of the Sardinia region.
Rome continues its bid against Paris, Los Angeles, and Budapest until September of 2017 when the IOC will select the official host city.
