Welcome autumn with this colorful Italian-American dish

Locally grown vegetables are as close as any food is to perfection. During this time of year-enjoy nature’s delicious bounty with this savory recipe “misto di verdure” from my grandmother’s kitchen.

Fall on Cape Cod, where I live, always brings back fond memories of when I was a young child in Sagamore and my Italian grandfather, Luigi, and his vegetable garden.

It also reminds me of the many open air markets throughout Italy, where I can purchase flavorful produce.

At my home I have a garden in my back yard where I grow a variety of heirloom tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, onions, and garlic. I have a large grape arbor full of plump, deep-purple grapes for jam. On my back deck I grow a variety of different figs. Read more and view the recipe at Cape Cod Times…
