That’s right, Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden and eight other European countries are ordering Italian takeout well beyond any of their local dishes (according to information shared with The Wall Street Journal by Europe’s leading food delivery companies).

This means that of the 94.1 billion dollars projected to be spent in Europe on takeout and delivery this year, a majority will go to pizza and pasta with countries such as Montenegro ordering Italian food 76% of the time and Poland ordering it 45% of the time (while their beloved pierogies constitute a mere 10% of total sales).

So who isn’t riding the Italian wave? Three countries still prefer their own food above all else: Greece, Turkey and Bosnia.
