The Russo Brothers Italian American Film Forum provides an incredible opportunity for inspired and creative artists to craft films that explore the Italian American experience.
In conjunction with Italian Sons and Daughters of America and the National Italian American Foundation, Joe and Anthony invite you to explore the present, past and future of this unique and important cultural expression and identity.
“The number of applications for last year’s inaugural Film Forum grants was so overwhelming that we and the sponsors decided to increase both the number and dollar amount of grants awarded this year. We were incredibly impressed with the quality and creativity of the films submitted last year, and are looking forward to those that will be part of this year’s program.” -Joe and Anthony Russo
This year, eight applicants will be awarded an $8,000 grant intended to serve as the production budget for either documentary or narrative films. There are few rules to the content of these films, only that they illuminate some positive aspect of the Italian American experience.
Grants are open to people of all nationalities and backgrounds, as the Italian American culture has touched upon and resonated with many. ISDA and NIAF will display the recipients’ films on their respective websites and reserve the right to screen the films at ISDA and NIAF events and/or not-for-profit events.
Grants will be awarded based solely on the promise of a film’s premise, how it relates to the Italian American experience, and the creative potential of the filmmakers.
If selected for a grant, the applicant’s acceptance signifies an obligation to deliver a film within the bounds of what was outlined in the application and by the due date listed below. Failure to complete a film by the final due date or delivery of a film unrelated or outside its immediate description written within the application will result in a full revocation of funds and complete disqualification.
