Italian Renaissance Art in the Heart of NYC

"Andrea del Sarto: The Renaissance Workshop in Action" makes its way from the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles to The Frick Collection in New York City this October.

The Uffizi Gallery Museum in Florence and other collections have loaned the works of Andrea del Sarto, a prolific 16th century Florentine artist (whose contemporaries included Michelangelo and Raphael), in what is the first major exhibition for the artist in the United States.

Making its way to the East coast from the West coast, the exhibition, including works collected by the Medici Family, showcases three paintings and fifty compositional drawings/figure studies, each completed in preparation for portraits and fresco paintings.

“Andrea del Sarto: The Renaissance Workshop in Action” runs October 7 through January 10.
